What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Specialist/Buyer position at SkyMark Refuelers?
SkyMark Refuelers, LLC is seeking candidates for a Procurement Specialist/Buyer. This position responsible for sharing the responsibility of sourcing new suppliers and maintaining relationships with current suppliers. They are also responsible for supporting production, engineering, and parts departments with day to day purchasing activities. This position is located in Kansas City, KS and reports to the Materials Manager.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzes supply and demand data to create new purchase orders and expedites requests to accommodate production schedules.
- Creates and manages new supplier relationships, negotiating bid packages, monitoring pricing fluctuations and seeking out cost saving measures.
- Sources and purchases components for engineering, production and sales.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Performs procurement activities and administers purchase orders based on planned order (MRP) and scheduled date for builds.
- Communicates with suppliers on purchase order confirmations, updating due dates in the system for Production scheduling purposes.
- Initiates discussions between suppliers and respective departments (Production, Receiving Engineering, Accounting) involving procurement related issues.
- Acts as liaison between suppliers and employees.
- Maintains Vendor database.
- Provides updates on shortages/ETA for jobs on FlowMark/Aviation schedules. Reviews all jobs daily.
- Issues POs with due dates based upon when parts are needed.
- Works the "Late Report" parts daily that were due to deliver previous days that have not yet been received. Contacts suppliers to see if parts have shipped getting tracking info. Update the system.
- Works with Receiving to make orders are received in a timely manner and any discrepancies are resolved
- Reviews Non Confirmed Purchase Order Report. Contacts suppliers to get a "Confirmed dispatch date" within 48 hours of sending PO.
- Reports any shortages on a job to purchasing manager that will impact production start date.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning)
- Knowledge of sourcing and warehouse management practices; RFQs, RMAs, etc.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to build vendor relationships
- Ability to analyze large data sets and think critically through solutions
- Ability to multitask
- Strong organization skills
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLookup
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Supply management
- Must work well with other employees and be a team player with a positive attitude.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics, Business or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a procurement/purchasing, supply chain or related role.
- Experience reading blueprints, engineering drawings and schematics.
- Engineering experience working in capital equipment
- Experience in contract negotiation and contract writing.
Salary : $51,900 - $65,800
