Location: The Newton Theatre, Newton, NJ

About Us:

The Newton Theatre is a premier music and entertainment venue nestled in the heart of historic Newton, NJ. With a rich history dating back to the 1920s, we have been hosting a diverse range of performances, from live music concerts to comedy shows and cultural events. We are seeking an organized, customer-focused Senior House Manager to oversee front-of-house operations, manage event staff, and ensure an outstanding patron experience at all events.

Job Description:

As the Senior House Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations during events, ensuring a seamless experience for patrons, managing event staff, and maintaining high standards in customer service. You will report directly to the General Manager (GM) and work closely with box office, concessions, security, and production teams. Additionally, you will be responsible for ordering all consumables for concessions and front-of-house, handling cash transactions, and making bank deposits.

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Nights and weekends are required based on event schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Front-of-House Operations:
    • Supervise and coordinate all front-of-house activities, including ushers, security, concessions, and guest services.
    • Ensure smooth crowd flow and promptly resolve patron concerns.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lobby, seating areas, and common spaces before, during, and after events.
  2. Guest & Customer Service:
    • Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all patrons, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Address and resolve customer complaints professionally and efficiently.
    • Assist VIP guests and special ticket holders, ensuring they receive premium service.
  3. Staff & Volunteer Coordination:
    • Recruit, train, schedule, and manage ushers, volunteers, and front-of-house staff.
    • Conduct pre-show meetings to review event details, assignments, and emergency procedures.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment for all staff.
  4. Ordering, Cash Handling & Inventory Management:
    • Order all consumables for concessions and front-of-house, ensuring adequate stock for each event.
    • Maintain vendor relationships and track inventory levels to minimize waste and optimize purchasing.
    • Handle all cash transactions for front-of-house operations, including concessions, ticket sales, and merchandise.
    • Securely manage cash counting, balancing registers, and preparing accurate financial reports.
    • Make regular bank deposits and ensure all cash-handling procedures align with company policies.
  5. Safety & Emergency Preparedness:
    • Enforce all safety policies, ADA accessibility guidelines, and emergency procedures.
    • Work closely with security personnel to ensure patron safety.
    • Be the point of contact for medical emergencies, lost & found, and incident reporting.
    • Knowledge of emergency procedures including CPR and AED operation is highly desirable.
  6. Event Coordination:
    • Communicate with box office, production, and operations staff to ensure a seamless experience for guests.
    • Oversee concession sales and assist in inventory management.
    • Work with vendors, sponsors, and partners to maintain high operational standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in venue, event, or hospitality management preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and maintain professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience in handling cash, balancing registers, and making bank deposits is required.
  • Experience in ordering and inventory management is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of TIPS training for bartenders preferred.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures such as CPR and AED is a plus.
  • Current valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Knowledge of ADA compliance, crowd management, and emergency response preferred.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule.
