Bike Park Operation employees will work all duties of the bike park including Trail Patrol, Trail Crew, and Bike Instructor. All employees will report to the Bike Park Operations Manager for daily tasks and will be scheduled where needed. This position provides excellent customer service and direction on trails by communicating with guests while maintaining trails, enforcing safety rules, and responding to trail incidents in a time sensitive environment.
This position is seasonal and requires availability on weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Assist with construction, patrol and maintenance of all trails throughout SkyPark.
- Ensure trails are safe and operational by clearing rocks, debris and dust control throughout bike park.
- Dig and water trails to keep dust to a minimum.
- Cut trees and branches to trails clear.
- Assist in set-up and break-down of bike park events. Marshal Bike Races and events, as well.
- Ensure all tools are maintained and stored in their proper location at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Educate and teach guests the skills they need to help improve their abilities to ride confidently and safely.
- Report all incidents, repairs, or customer feedback to the Bike Park Program Manager.
- Demonstrate proper training techniques to create a safe learning environment.
- Ensure guests equipment is working properly before starting training courses.
- Always carry yourself in an approachable manner and assist guests with any questions or concerns they may have.
- Actively promote bike lessons in the park with guests. Sign up guests and coordinate their lesson in the Bike Shop.
- Keep maintenance tools off trails while trails are open to guests.
- Maintain all wood and man-made trail features.
- Patrol all areas of the trails to prevent injuries through guest education and hazard identification.
- Assist the Safety Department, if requested, with any injured guests when called.
- May be exposed to body fluids and other biohazards and are expected to use protection supplied by the park.
- Frequent bending, lifting, hiking, digging and pedaling
- Must be able to teach a bike lesson of up to 5 guests at a time per instructor, you will be trained by the Bike Park Operations Manager to teach lessons.
- Be able to make quick judgements for customer safety
- Maintain trails and be able to lead a small volunteer crew
- Work with Children of all ages
- Report all incidents, repairs, or customer feedback to the Bike Park Operations Manager.
- Main Responsibilities will be Working Trail Crew and teaching bike lessons on weekends.
- All other job duties assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Passion for outdoor recreation, conservation, and environmental stewardship.
- Experience in trail maintenance, construction, or outdoor leadership preferred.
- Strong mountain biking skills and experience riding on a variety of trail types. Green (beginner) and Blue Trails (intermediate) skills required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Knowledge of trail building techniques, sustainable land management practices, and Leave No Trace principles.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Live Scan Criminal Background Check completion required.
- Ability to work 90% of shift outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to frequent bend, lift, hike, dig and pedal for the majority of the shift.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred. Provided by company if not.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds or more with assistance.
- Pass SkyPark’s Instructor Certification Test (provided by SkyPark)
