As we expand our operations in the USA, we are seeking a dedicated Flight Operations Team Leader to join our growing team in Michigan.

Role Description:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Flight Operations Team Leader to be the cornerstone of our new team in Michigan. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and lead the operational framework from the ground up. You will play a pivotal role in setting up robust processes, developing a high-performing team, and ensuring safe and efficient drone operations. Reporting directly to the Head of Flight Operations, you will be instrumental in building the foundation for our US-based flight operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Lead and manage the flight operations team, including remote pilots and ground support personnel, ensuring cohesive and efficient team performance
  • Process Development: Establish and implement standardised operational procedures and best practices, aligned with regulatory requirements and Skyports' standards
  • Flight Planning and Execution: Oversee flight planning, mission execution, and post-flight analysis to ensure high-quality service delivery and data accuracy
  • Safety and Compliance: Foster a strong safety culture, enforcing compliance with all aviation regulations, company policies, and industry best practices
  • Team Development: Provide mentorship and professional growth opportunities for team members, conducting regular performance evaluations and supporting their development
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Flight Operations and other stakeholders to align operational strategies and ensure smooth execution of projects
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational risks and enhance mission success
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry advancements and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency


Requirements

  • Proven experience in drone operations, with hands-on experience in field operations and project management
  • Previous experience in a leadership role such as team leader, supervisor, or junior manager within the drone or aviation industry
  • Strong knowledge of UAS flight operations, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams
  • Ability to develop and implement operational procedures and maintain a high standard of documentation
  • A valid Remote Pilot Certificate (e.g., Part 107) is highly desirable
  • Willingness to be based in Michigan and travel for project requirements
