Job Description:
Overview: Seeking a skilled Hitachi/Netapp Storage Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in storage management and data protection, with a focus on Hitachi and Netapp Storage Systems. An ideal candidate should also have knowledge and experience supporting backup operations using Veritas NetBackup. This role is critical to ensuring the availability, performance, and protection of enterprise data while collaborating with a team to support the organization s storage and backup needs.
Key Responsibilities: Administer and manage Hitachi and NetApp Storage systems (e.g., Hitachi VSP, Hitachi NAS, etc.), ensuring optimal performance, capacity management, and availability.
Configure, provision, and maintain storage volumes, replication, snapshots, and other storage-related tasks within Hitachi environments.
Collaborate with other teams to design and implement scalable storage solutions that meet business needs.
Configure, deploy, and manage Azure Storage and Backup solutions to protect cloud-based data, including virtual machines, databases, and applications
Support Veritas NetBackup solutions, focusing on backup configurations, scheduling, and troubleshooting backup jobs.
Assist with integrating Hitachi Storage with NetBackup to ensure efficient backup and recovery processes.
Work with the backup team to ensure data protection, restore operations, and disaster recovery strategies are in place.
Troubleshoot storage-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, disk failures, and connectivity problems.
Provide support for backup failures, data recovery, and restore processes, working closely with other teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Monitor storage usage and proactive plan for growth, ensuring storage systems are properly scaled to meet evolving data needs.
Perform regular capacity checks, storage audits, and ensure that storage environments are fully optimized for performance and cost efficiency.
Create and maintain documentation related to storage configurations, procedures, and backup policies.
Generate regular reports on storage performance, backup success, and system health, ensuring that stakeholders are informed of the status of critical data infrastructure.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (network, database, Unix/Linux, Windows, and application teams) to ensure proper storage and backup integration.
Mentor junior team members and assist with training to ensure efficient and effective backup and storage support.
Provide on-call support during evenings and weekends
Provide guidance on technical best practices and assist in troubleshooting complex backup and storage-related issues.
Required Experience: At least eight years (8 years) of experience with a focus on storage and backup solutions.
Proven experience managing Hitachi Storage systems (e.g., Hitachi VSP, Hitachi NAS, etc.) including storage provisioning, performance tuning, disaster recovery and replication.
Basic experience with Veritas NetBackup solutions, including backup configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of storage technologies and protocols (e.g., Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, NDMP etc.) and hardware components related to these protocols.
Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
Experience working with SAN technologies, particularly Cisco, Brocade, and/or McData fabric architectures.
Experience with NetBackup hardware appliances, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Ability to develop backup and storage policies and implement strategies for business continuity.
Certifications (Preferred): Hitachi Data Systems certification (e.g., HDS Certified Storage Engineer).
Veritas NetBackup certification (or experience) is a plus.
Any relevant storage or backup certifications (e.g., CompTIA Storage , or equivalent)
Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus
