What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician/Groundskeeper position at Skyview Los Alamos?
The Groundskeeper & Maintenance position is responsible for maintaining the 5 acre property of Skyview Los Alamos. It encompasses 33 rooms inside and out, the courtyard, restaurant, pool area, common areas and grounds. All parts of the property are not only expected to be in order 365 days of the year, but also to Nomada Hotel Group aesthetic standards. This position reports to the General Manager.
Grounds Responsibilities:
Ensure the property grounds are maintained at all times to a neat and tidy aesthetic.
Understand property irrigation systems and use thoughtfully for plant health without guest impact.
Concrete is swept, leaf blown and when necessary, pressure washed.
Decomposed granite areas are leaf blown and raked, while ensuring other landscaping gravel does not get mixed in.
Grass is weeded, leaf blown and mowed once per week at each property.
Fountains are drained and cleaned once per week at each property.
Small trees and plants are kept trimmed to healthy levels promoting vibrant color and new growth.
Small trees and plants are also kept trimmed from guest walkways and disposed of properly.
Keep outdoor seating areas clean of debris and keep furniture neat and straight.
Communication with GM on poor health and loss of plants or gravel to assess new purchase orders to budget.
Communication with GM on large project needs from third parties, such as tree cutting or large replacements.
Maintenance Responsibilities:
Fixing small hardware breaks such as fixtures, toilet seats, etc.
Installing small appliances, furniture and fixtures as needed
Ensure trash is properly maintained in the trash area
Regular pressure washing and tile maintenance
Necessary sweeping, leaf blowing, cobweb removal, etc of all outdoor areas and sidewalk area
Basic maintenance and cleaning of ice machines, water heaters, etc
Groundskeeping duties such as caring for plants, parking areas, outdoor spaces, fountains, pool deck, etc
Maintenance and repair restaurant equipment such as refrigerators, ice machines, stoves, etc
Maintain the property’s bicycles to consistent working condition
Ensuring the pool area and pool are maintained and cleaned. Communication with GM and Pool company when needed
Communication with GM on courtyard plants and full Skyview grounds being cared for
Communication with GM on indoor plants being cared for
Communication with GM on large project needs from third parties, such as tree cutting, painting, etc
Communication with GM on any other needs beyond capabilities
Communication on supply needs
Job Qualifications:
Plumbing experience
Carpentry experience
Painting experience
Electrical testing and knowledge
Basic Maintenance and Equipment knowledge
Able to multitask lists efficiently
Experience as a handyman, landscaper and construction
License and ability to drive property vehicle for transportation of items on property
Previous applicable experience in a hotel is preferred
Upon hire, submission of satisfactory proof of your identity and your legal authorization to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, reach, stoop, bend, lift, and clean during various activities throughout shift.
As needed, must be able to lift products or supplies up to 50 lbs.
