JOB OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Training Manager at Skyward Aviation works under the Director of Maintenance, and collaboratively with the Vice President of Maintenance Operations, Director of Safety, and COO to manage all aspects of our aircraft maintenance training program. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and proficiency among company maintenance personnel.
To ensure your success in the role, the Maintenance Training Manager should demonstrate in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems and components, possess strong computer skills, and have a broad understanding of maintenance training topics. An expert manager will be someone who has excellent communication skills, the patience for and a love of fostering growth in others, strong attention to detail, is able to demonstrate professionalism and leadership, and is dedicated to learning and growing in this field.
The Maintenance Training Manager should expect to work as a lead A&P Mechanic alongside company technicians.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Maintenance Training Manager will perform the following essential job functions:
- Assist in the development of training programs for new hire mechanics, ongoing training for seasoned staff, and focused learning workshops for the flight department.
- Ensure the training programs follow all applicable rules and regulations, including FAA and manufacturer guidelines.
- Assist with developing plans for what the training programs will teach and how.
- Create training materials that are easy to understand and use.
- As it pertains to vendor training: manage vendor relationships, facilitate scheduling and associated paperwork, audit the quality of programs offered.
- Deliver training modules to new hire mechanics and develop their skillset within the training program.
- Deliver training modules to seasoned staff and personnel from other departments – as dictated by the company training program.
- Develop assessment methods to evaluate trainee performance. Utilize results to identify areas for improvement with both the program and individual trainees.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and performance evaluations.
- Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment conducive to learning and growth.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CRITICAL SKILLS
- Previous management or training experience as an aircraft mechanic or in a similar position.
- A&P certification is required. IA preferred but not required.
- Previous experience on Learjet airframes is preferred.
- High School or GED/equivalent is required.
- Computer skills and experience with maintenance software required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork skills.
- Must be self-motivating and able to motivate a team.
- Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
TECHNOLOGY
The Maintenance Training Manager should be familiar with the following technology:
- Microsoft 365 Suite
- Canva or PowerPoint
- SharePoint
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work performed is primarily indoors with air conditioning and heating.

Pay: $35.00 - $55.00 per hour
