Job Summary
The Parts Specialist supports the Aviation Parts Manager in all aircraft parts and material activity and responsibilities, ensuring support performance, efficiency, and quality meets the needs of the Skyward Aviation maintenance operations. This role is critical in ensuring the Parts Department contributes to the overall success and safety of maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Responsible for the complete life cycle of inventory and material which includes requisitioning, receiving, storing, stock retrieval, issuing, transferring, purchasing, managing repair/exchange, returns, shipping, and delivering items.
· Maintain a clean and organized parts storage area.
· Ensure segregation is maintained for serviceable material and items designated as quarantine
· Maintain physical stock alignment with system records, ensure supporting documentation is adequate and available, perform cycle counts and assist in audits, identify cause for errors and assist in modifying procedures/practices to eliminate future inaccuracies.
· Purge stock of items that have exceeded their life limits.
· Ensure all parts are properly identified, marked, and located in accordance with policy and guidelines.
· Process parts requests, pulling stock and distributing items for maintenance teams as needed.
· Assist in tracking and managing inventory levels to prevent shortages or identifying excess.
· Use best practices and industry resources to locate materials that meet the requirements of maintenance needs in the most cost-effective manner.
· Prepare and process purchase orders, invoices, and shipping documents.
· Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to deliver company orders, track shipments and resolve discrepancies.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, aviation regulations, and industry standards regarding parts sourcing, documentation, handling, and storage.
· Ensure parts and material are available in time for maintenance tasks to be performed on schedule.
· Provide customer service to internal stakeholders, answering inquiries regarding parts activity, history, availability and order status.
· Assist the Parts Manager with administrative and operational tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in aviation parts handling and control, such as experience as an airline stores clerk or buyer, but we also welcome candidates with experience in automotive/industrial parts stores or other inventory management roles. Skills and Competencies:
- Basic understanding of aircraft parts and maintenance operations (preferred but not required).
- Experienced in inventory management software/systems and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willing to learn.
- Highly organized with inventory, tasks, communications, and personal workspace.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. in accordance with OSHA guidelines, with assistance provided for heavier items.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays when occasionally necessary
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Work Environment:
- Primarily based in an office environment with regular work in the stockroom/warehouse and frequent interaction within the hangar and with maintenance teams.
- Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, standing, reaching, lifting, climbing up and down stairs
- Movement between buildings and sites with exposure to weather conditions and elevated noise levels.
- May require occasional travel to vendors, suppliers, or other operational locations.
