What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Engineer position at SkyWater Search Partners?
The Packaging Engineer will work with product development, manufacturing operations, and customers – applying your engineering knowledge in product design, manufacturing & fabrication processes, quality standards, and materials to create superior products and ensure customer satisfaction. An integral part to the development process, you’ll be actively involved in heads-down development & design as well as supporting NPI and pilot runs on the manufacturing floor.
Responsibilities
- Manage the entire packaging development process, including design, prototyping, specifications, and performance testing.
- Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure packaging exceeds customer specifications and quality standards.
- Support manufacturing operations with continuous improvements, cost savings, and sustainability initiatives.
- Drive technical transfer from Packaging Engineering to Operations, ensuring packaging meets operational and customer requirements.
- Lead packaging support for product launches, cost-saving initiatives, operational efficiency projects, and quality investigations.
- Coordinate line trials, manufacturing startups, and validations to ensure optimal packaging performance and production efficiency.
Desired Skills And Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- 2 years of experience in packaging product development
- Optimal communication abilities, written and verbally, and demonstrated experience working with customers
- ArtiosCad and AutoCad proficiency
- Intermediate knowledge related to flexible packaging, packaging equipment, paperboard, corrugated, or other paper/packaging products
- Ability to work on-site in Green Bay
- Ability to travel to customers in the Upper Midwest up to 15% of the time
