What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yield and E-Test Engineer position at SkyWater Technology Foundry, Inc.?
Position Summary:
SkyWater is seeking a motivated Yield & E-Test Failure Investigation Engineer to join our innovative semiconductor foundry team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with experienced yield engineers to analyze production data and investigate electrical test (e-test) failures. Your work will be critical in uncovering and resolving yield-impacting issues, thereby enhancing our manufacturing processes. This position is ideal for an engineer early in their career who is eager to develop expertise in yield analysis, failure investigation, and semiconductor process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Yield Data Analysis:
Collaborate with yield engineers to review production data and identify trends using statistical tools (e.g., SPC, DOE).
Contribute to the development and maintenance of yield analysis dashboards and detailed reporting to track process performance.
E-Test Failure Investigation:
Perform hands-on investigations of e-test failures to determine root causes affecting device performance.
Collect, analyze, and interpret failure data to support targeted corrective actions.
Work with cross-functional teams, including process and design engineers, to develop and implement solutions based on investigation findings.
Process Optimization Support:
Assist in refining test methodologies and process parameters to drive continuous yield improvement.
Participate in yield improvement projects and contribute technical insights to help optimize production processes.
Reporting & Communication:
Document investigation results and prepare technical reports, presentations, and updates for internal teams and management.
Clearly communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customer interactions as needed.
Continuous Learning & Development:
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in yield analysis and failure investigation within the semiconductor industry.
Pursue opportunities to develop skills in yield modeling, prediction, and advanced analytics through hands-on experience and mentorship.
Required Qualifications:
Citizenship:
U.S. Citizenship is required, as this position mandates holding a government security clearance in accordance with ITAR requirements.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
0-2 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, yield analysis, or failure investigation is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Fundamental understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes and device testing methodologies.
Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Excel, JMP, Python, or R) or a demonstrated willingness to quickly learn advanced data analysis techniques.
Core Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to e-test systems and semiconductor failure analysis techniques.
Basic experience or strong interest in yield modeling and prediction methods.
Familiarity with design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC) concepts.
Experience in technical reporting and customer interaction is a plus.
