SYSTEM RACK ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN - RF Communications
Skywave Communications, Inc., a Rochester, NY based Public Safety Communications company and Motorola Solutions Service Elite Specialist, is seeking a customer focused and quality driven candidate to join our team.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ability to perform precision rack assembly work by aligning, configuring, and properly installing communications equipment into racks and cabinets
- Complete detailed and intricate assembly activities including manipulating small objects, reading small print, and color differentiation tasks
- Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, technical drawings, specifications and procedures to accurately assemble communications equipment and products
- Independently carry out required assembly procedures
- Solder, crimp, cut, apply connectors to and route wires/cables according to schematics
- Strip and apply heat shrink to electrical conductors
- Perform basic cable assembly integrity tests
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Follow verbal and written directions
- Willingness to adapt and revise processes based on feedback from Supervisor
- Follow prescribed safety regulations
Required Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Ability to use a wide range of hand tools and test equipment
- Dexterity needed to install and maintain public safety communications equipment
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring and electronics handling procedures
- Experience with cabling, terminations, equipment racking, and labeling
- Clearly understand written and verbal communication
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn and succeed
Preferred Competencies:
- Currently certified in Motorola Solutions R56 standards and practices
- Public safety communications technology installation, maintenance and electronics experience
- Associate's Degree in electronics, computer technology or related field
- Knowledge of communications related test equipment and its proper use
- Knowledge of LMR technology
Hiring Requirements:
- MUST possess a current, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
- MUST be able to pass a drug test
