What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Skyway Precision Inc.?
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join our team at our Platteville, WI. location. The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all product manufactured by Skyway meet all internal and external requirements.
JOB DESCRIPTION
To ensure that all product manufactured, and services provided by Skyway meet all internal and external; requirements and assisting the manufacturing department to meet these requirements where possible.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Conduct 1st piece and In-process inspection of prototype and production products.
- Generate dimensional and inspection documentation results and have the ability to determine compliance to Skyway and/or Customer requirements.
- Part setup and execute CMM programs to measure machined and cast products.
- Basic understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading and Skyway and Customer Quality and Engineering standards.
- Basic knowledge of SPC data collection techniques.
- Email end of shift reports and issues found during the shift as required.
- Use of micrometers, calipers, indicators, profilometers, optical comparator and height stand.
- Use of radius, angle, pin, plug, height, bore, beam and thread gages.
- Basic maintenance of gages, cleaning, indicator exchange, setting and verification.
- Perform gage set up's according to gage set up instructions
- Perform MSA studies according to AIAG standard and report results
- Perform Millipore (Cleanliness) testing and report results
- Ability to use GAGEPack to track gages and maintain calibration records.
- Monitor SPC data to be sure that the process is in control.
- Record SPC data internal to the quality department.
- Perform production receiving inspection, layer checks, line inspections, STP, final audits and final shipping dock inspections as necessary.
- Perform layer process audits as scheduled.
- Perform daily disposition of the MRB area as a member of the MRB team.
- Review high fallout processes to develop improvement opportunities.
- Rework select nonconforming product to print specifications.
- Complete weekly Return to Vendor requests and follow-up to completion.
- Work with shift supervisors for internal defect reduction plans and report to Management on a monthly basis as to progress.
- Target supplier improvement projects with the data derived from the MRB system and develop reduction plans with suppliers and report to management on a monthly basis.
- Support Compliance with Skyway Precision, Inc.’s Quality policies and procedures (IATF16949 & ISO14001).
- Follow general safety rules and Company policies and procedures.
- Perform Special Assignments as delegated.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs infrequently.

High School Diploma or equivalent.
