This RN will gather health information from patients and chart it in the appropriate applications, ensure necessary patient information is communicated to the medical team, and that orders received are entered correctly.

Job description
Position Summary
The intake RN is responsible for completing the admission assessment for patient’s entering treatment for their substance use disorder. This RN will gather health information from patients and chart it in the appropriate applications, ensure necessary patient information is communicated to the medical team, and that orders received are entered correctly.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Complete head to toe admission assessment on new patients admitting for treatment.
- Administers breathalyzer, vital signs, and UDS upon intake and documents accurate results
- Prepares Medication Administration Record (MAR)
- Documents all intake information into the TIER program, including demographics and all appropriate assessments
- Provides patient education regarding medications
- Completes the initial gown search, to include a skin assessment, on each admitting patient
- Assists with luggage searches, when available, of incoming patients
- Passes medication to already admitted patients when admission schedule allows
- Assumes other nursing responsibilities as able, including responding to codes, administering first aid, breathing treatments, processing provider orders, dressing changes, follow up calls with outside agencies and any other nursing tasks delegated by leadership
- Ability to consistently demonstrate through conduct and communications the stability required to effectively assist patients through the admission process
- Ability to build relationships with diverse individuals and groups
- Understands need for and always maintains appropriate confidentiality when interacting with patients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
- Must have general knowledge of various computer software applications and charting systems
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness while monitoring your own work to ensure quality
- Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and the ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the organization
- Education: College, Associate Degree with a Bachelors preferred
- Licensure: Registered Nurse
- Experience: 1-2 years’ working experience in a medical facility, preferably in alcohol/drug treatment or behavioral health
- Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Position requires work on the computer requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity
- Due to the 24/7 operational demands, weekends and holidays will be worked on a rotation
