Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Transportation Engineering Inspector to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team. This role focuses on transportation-related construction projects, with a primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations. You will develop and maintain relationships with transportation agencies, including MARTA and others, while contributing to the growth and success of the CEI team in the Metro Atlanta area.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Construction Inspection:
- Conduct independent, complex inspections of roadways, structures, and construction materials.
- Evaluate asphalt and concrete materials for proper mix, depth, alignment, and compaction.
- Inspect structural operations, including foundation excavation, culverts, piling, and reinforcing steel placements.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all construction activities conform to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Perform calculations and measurements to document pay items accurately.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive CEI reports, field measurements, and required documentation.
- Training & Development:
- Assist in developing and training junior construction personnel.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to ensure project success.
- Client Relationships:
- Develop and maintain relationships with transportation agencies, including MARTA and other key stakeholders in the Metro Atlanta area.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- 1 years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering or related construction fields.
- Knowledge of construction engineering policies and procedures specific to CEI.
- Strong skills in using test equipment, preparing reports, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and effectively manage time and priorities.
- Preferred:
- Experience in writing CEI reports.
- Construction engineering experience with transportation-related projects.
