The Head of Powertrain and Propulsion will develop and manage the team that creates and executes the Powertrain Engineering set of systems and components for the vehicle.

Director level responsibilities for hiring, developing the organization and processes. The Head of Powertrain and Propulsion will develop and manage the team that creates and executes the Powertrain Engineering set of systems and components for the vehicle.
What you get to do:
- The Head of Powertrain and Propulsion will be responsible for understanding the vehicle technical specifications and performance targets. This organizational head is then responsible for developing component specifications and requirements ensuring every feature and performance requirement from Product Planning and Vehicle Integration is assigned appropriately in the organization. Through the program they will confirm all compliance documentation is submitted and approved via the Safety and Compliance team.
- This leader will develop a team of Design Release and Development engineers that work directly with the Vehicle Integration and Validation, Safety and Compliance Engineers and Product Planning to ensure the Powertrain Systems meet the needs of the product definition.
- He/she will lead system architecture development to ensure all features and modules are represented in the architecture design.
- In this position the candidate will develop specific system and component Technical Requirements and manage the development, sourcing, and engineering of these components. This leader's team will complete component sourcing recommendations, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, HARA Risk Analysis, and other technical design logic maps as required.
- This candidate will have responsibility for a team of direct line Sr. Managers, Managers, and/or Lead Engineers and will grow the organization appropriately to match the feature set required. The organization will be responsible for developing the product to the Gate requirements and communicate risks and development priorities as needed.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
- 15 years of experience with Powertrain Engineering leadership responsibilities.
- Preferred expertise in High Voltage Battery Systems including Level 3 HV Certification
- Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
- Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail.
- Specific Powertrain Engineering technical system and component knowledge including a systems engineering approach
- Technical writing and documentation experience
- Functional experience with all NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC, or other regulatory requirements
- Ability and Desire to build your own team and work in a fun and fast paced environment
