Duties and Responsibilities:

Work Habits: (40%)
  • Research best practices for employee engagement and recognition and suggests findings on innovative improvements and/or solutions to ensure high-impact employee engagement programs and activities.
  • Utilize various channels to build awareness, understanding and engagement for employee initiatives and programs. This includes maintaining the total rewards and recognition program such as the CHEERS program.
  • Effectively and accurately coordinate logistics, scheduling, catering, and communication for engagement and training programs and initiatives as requested.
  • Collect feedback on events, activities, and programs to evaluate effectiveness and offer recommendations for continuous improvement and take ownership of implementation.
  • Organizes and facilitates an exceptional orientation experience to create positive early employment encounters. This includes monitoring and updating program as part of continuous improvement.
  • Objectively communicate (or direct) employee concerns and employee feedback to the Director of Employee Experience when conducting employee surveys and engaging in two-way dialogue, without bias, promise of action, or personal views and perspectives.
  • Responsible for building programming focused on employee well-being. This includes organizing training and workshops that focus on self-improvement topics such as stress management, personal finance management and other self-help topics.
  • Other duties as assigned

Behavioral Standards: (20%)
  • Creation and delivery of internal communication results in high-quality messaging that provides information in a simple yet compelling way.
  • Regularly update the organization on engagement initiatives and build excitement for upcoming programs with a communication plan that includes email and other marketing campaigns.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees in all matters and communications.
  • Works in conjunction with HR and the Director of Employee Experience to ensure the onboarding of college employees optimizes the new hire experience. Provide onboarding support to Supervisors while working closely with other cross-functional teams in HR.
  • Maintain relationship with new hires to ensure success for them and the college by performing 60 and 120-day stay interviews.

Institutional Support: (20%)
  • Support the vision and values of the college through a standards of practice campaign. This includes an email campaign and other visible methods of communication to keep the college values front and center.
  • Manage, maintain, and publish SLCC master calendar to coordinate employee programs, and activities at all campus locations.
  • Participate in various college initiatives and projects as requested.

Team Relations: (20%)
  • Communicate accurately, honestly, supportively and in a timely manner on matters of engagement to ensure employee issues or concerns are heard and resolved.
  • May serve on selection committees and/or directs the Selection Committee on hiring managers on proper screening and interviewing protocols.

Required Education: Associate's degree in business related field, or relevant work substitution.

Required Experience: Two years of experience in human resources, business, public relations, marketing, communications, or related fields.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must be passionate about workplace happiness and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Ability to work at a fast and continuous pace with variable workload. Ability to manage and juggle
multiple priorities to execute high-quality deliverables.
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented in establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with sensitive and/or confidential situations, information, conversations, and documentation.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and sensitivity in coordinating activities and communicating with all college employees, students, and external parties.
  • Effective business writing skills.
  • The ability to communicate in a tactful, diplomatic manner while creating strong relationships with key business partners and HR team.
  • Ability to present material effectively to groups in person, via phone, or remotely using software such as Skype.
  • Independent judgement and decision-making skills. Must be self-directed, resourceful with creative problem-solving ability skills.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to demonstrate the proven abilities of intellectual reasoning, power of persuasion, and consistent dedication to the position.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).Ability to learn to operate College-specific software and applications.

Other Qualifications: Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.

Required Licenses or Certifications: Criminal Background Clearance and Drug Screen.
