Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of canine behavior and training techniques, with the ability to work effectively with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. This role involves training dogs in obedience, agility, and specialized skills while ensuring a positive learning environment for both the dogs and their owners. This is a managerial postion where you will be heading up the training department and overseeing other employees. A background in veterinary care or animal handling is highly desirable along with management experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement customized training programs for dogs based on individual needs and goals.
- Conduct group classes and private sessions to teach obedience commands, socialization skills, and behavioral modifications.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors in dogs.
- Assess the behavior of dogs and provide feedback to owners on training progress.
- Maintain a safe and clean training environment, ensuring all equipment is in good condition.
- Provide guidance to pet owners on proper dog handling and care techniques.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive approach to dog training and care.
- Stay updated on the latest training methods, canine behavior research, and industry best practices.
- Oversee the training department and other trainers.
Experience
- Proven experience in dog training or related fields such as veterinary technician or animal handling is preferred.
- Familiarity with animal restraint techniques and heavy lifting associated with handling large breeds.
- Experience working in kennels, pet sitting, or equine environments is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with both dogs and their owners.
- A compassionate approach towards animals, demonstrating patience and understanding in all interactions.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
