What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper/Laundry Attendant position at SLEEP INN & SUITES?
The Laundry Attendant's responsibilities include cleaning and folding linen, terry, and other textile articles. The attendant should also be able to keep a record of how many loads are completed each day and what chemicals are changed during the shift.
Laundry Attendant Responsibilities:
· Maintain a well-groomed professional appearance. Extend hospitality and courtesy to guest and other employees.
Sorting, washing, drying, and folding linen and other textile items.
· Pulling dirty linen from departed rooms at the beginning of each day.
· Moving pulled linen from designated drop zones to the laundry room using the assigned bins.
· Removing stains from items using the appropriate procedures. (Completing Reclaim when bin is full)
· Responsible for locating items that are left in the room by guests and returning them to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
· Cleaning lint traps after every other load to prevent causing a fire hazard.
· Ensuring that the facility remains clean at all times (sweeping and mopping daily.)
· Anticipating and responding to customers' queries, concerns, and complaints.
· Responsible for cleaning and folding all dirty linen from that day unless otherwise directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor or General Manager.
· Being able to take direction from Housekeeping Supervisor, General Manager, or the individual checking rooms that day.
· If loads are not able to be completed, ensuring linen and terry needs are met to complete check-out rooms from that day.
Housekeeper Responsibilities
SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the common areas and guest rooms of the hotel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans rooms in accordance to specific brand and company standards
- Remove all linen and terry from guest room checkouts.
- Replace linen and terry as needed or assigned on stay over rooms.
- Clean bathrooms thoroughly, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing toilet and shower.
- Dust all furniture and fixtures including headboards, mirrors, picture frames, streamlines, televisions, tables, etc.
- Replenishes supplies within guest rooms and on carts to transport to assigned areas
- Have complete understanding of the proper layout of the furniture and amenities in each room type. Ensure that furnishings and correct amenities are in their proper places after the room is cleaned.
- Checks that all appliances are present and in working order for each room
- Vacuums carpets and preforms floor care duties
- Be accountable for the guest’s belongings left in the room. Any found items must be turned in immediately to the Housekeeping Supervisor, Inspector or Manager on Duty.
- Deep cleans areas as directed by supervisor
- Transports trash and waste to disposable area
- Responds promptly to requests from guests and other departments
- Reports any maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents or injuries to the front desk
- Completes safety training and certifications
- Inspects finished laundry to assure high quality standards
- Handles contaminated articles per company, franchise, and OSHA standards
- Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and linens; informs General Manager of any inventory needs to ensure stock levels are accurate for each day
- Maintains all laundry equipment and informs appropriate personnel of maintenance needs.
- Maintain assigned equipment. Report any problems with your equipment to your supervisor or maintenance immediately.
- Follows company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
- Be aware of any suspicious activities or persons. Report such activity immediately to your supervisor or the General Manager.
- Follow all departmental rules and procedures in doing your job.
- Be aware of and follow all safety rules and use caution in doing the job.

Job Requirements:
· Prior experience in a similar role is preferable.
· Familiarity with cleaning detergents and laundering equipment.
· Ability to stand for long periods.
· Capacity to lift up to 40 pounds unaided.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
