Savannah Logistics Group has an immediate need for a Diesel Service Writer for our Minus Avenue location. This position will work with drivers directly to coordinate on-site work as well as over-the-road repairs and engage with vendors regarding equipment and service staff. Supervisory Responsibilities : Not applicable

Essential Duties :

Responsible for the quality of all repairs of equipment assigned to the shop through the effective scheduling of personnel and parts availability.
Communication with customers regarding progress and cost of billable repairs. Coordinating with outside companies, such as repair vendors and breakdown service, to ensure quality standards are maintained with the lowest cost.
Maintaining accuracy of all daily, weekly, and monthly shop reports.
Manage the schedule of equipment for preventive maintenance in accordance with PM procedures, and / or specification of contract or as specified by the individual customer.
Check the quality of PM's by performing inspections as specified.
Complete assigned training to meet service requirements.
Order parts including special orders to ensure parts meet quality standards through the approved parts purchasing program and ensure warranty is requested on all parts.
Issue purchase orders prior to every purchase of service and / or repairs and ensure the purchase order is filled out completely.
Maintain an accurate inventory.
Conduct rental unit inspections, ensure condition and quality repairs of both outbound and inbound rental units, per procedures.
Enforcing safety rules and maintaining a safe work environment. Attend quality and other required meetings.
Ensure that every employee is given a shop orientation and is trained on the specific job they are being assigned. Ensure all procedures are followed and being utilized.
Assist Dispatch and Safety Departments with advancing new procedures and policies. Utilize the Work Scheduling process to direct and schedule the activities.
Communicate between shifts to ensure workflow.
Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Knowledge of equipment and heavy & light duty trucks, previous experience in a similar role.

Professional personal appearance.

Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, setting priorities and adapting to changing work priorities.

Must be self-sufficient and driven, meeting deadlines and schedules.

General mechanical aptitude and experience with parts required. Knowledge of hydraulic, heavy equipment, diesel truck and / or farm equipment preferred.

General aptitude in working with common computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to process orders.

Knowledge of inventory software ( Fullbay, preferred ) to process purchase orders and tracking inventory helpful.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing a positive service experience. This includes internal client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

This job requires "people" skills and a genuine desire to service the client. A positive attitude and willingness to maintain a professional demeanor with clients and team members is essential to this position.

Talk to others to convey information effectively, understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Monitor / Assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action, communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Education and Experience :

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Minimum 2 years' experience required.

Valid Driver's License required.
