Brief Job Description
The Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting the owner and Corporate Tax Accountant of SLHeeley Tax with maintaining the financial records of the clients of SLHeeley Tax by accurately recording the day-to-day financial transactions, running payroll, filing and paying tax statements, and compiling financial reports. Additionally, the Junior Accountant will assist with managing the tax-related needs of individual and business clients of SLHeeley Tax by accurately completing returns and helping resolve tax issues.
Range of Responsibilities
· Prepare and assemble corporate, trust, non-profit, and individual income tax returns
· Organize and maintain records of tax payments
· Complete quarterly and annual tax reports
· Recommend appropriate tax strategies to clients
· Assist clients with tax related inquiries
· Assist with maintaining accounting records for multiple clients
· Assist with setting up accounting procedures and onboarding new clients
· Communicate with IRS and State Agencies regarding client issues
· Proactively follow up with clients to ensure timely filings
· Work with clients to help them with:
o Budgeting
o Cash forecasting
o Revenue and expenditure analysis
· Prepare, Monitor, and analyze accounting data to produce financial reports or statements
· Manage QuickBooks files for clients
· Update banking information in QuickBooks
· Record day-to-day financial postings for clients
· Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
· Verify transactions recorded accurately and timely
· Perform reconciliations
· Complete and process sales tax
· Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records, etc. as assigned
· Prepare and submit weekly/monthly/quarterly reports
· Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly/yearly closings
· Assist in other accounting projects as assigned
· Work closely with owner to review monthly and year end reports
· Communicate and work effectively with tax and bookkeeping team
· Complete and maintain QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification
· Complete and maintain trainings and certifications necessary to provide quality service
· Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, orally and in writing, to provide quality service
· Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients and staff
Requirements
· Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite
· Proficient in Excel
· In depth knowledge of corporate, trust, non-profit, and individual tax law
· Excellent organizational skills
· High degree of accuracy with attention to detail
· Good with numbers and figures
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Excellent analytical and time management skills

Hours:
Off Season (May-December): (40 hours/week)
Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-5:30pm
Friday: 8:30am-2:30pm
Tax Season (January-April): (40-60 hours/week)
Hours will include some evenings (Monday-Thursday) and some Saturdays throughout tax season.
