What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and implement a strategic vision and plan for catastrophe claims management, aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
- Develop, document, and implement claims handling strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective claims processing during catastrophic events.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and technology enhancements to streamline claims operations.
- Oversee the end-to-end claims process, ensuring compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate claims activities to ensure accurate and timely claim settlements while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Conduct claim file audits to assess quality, identify trends, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as the finance team, underwriters, risk management, legal counsel, and senior management to develop comprehensive catastrophe response plans.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with external parties, including agents, brokers, adjusters, and vendors, to facilitate efficient claims handling.
- Provide strong leadership to a team of claims professionals, including training, coaching, performance management and leadership development.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and objectives for the team and monitor performance metrics to ensure operational excellence.
- Prepare and present regular reports on claims activities, including key performance indicators, trends, and financial impact, to senior management.
- Conduct data analysis to identify patterns, emerging risks, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to catastrophe claims management.
- Perform other duties as assigned and travel as necessary.
Education, Experience, and Licensing:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, insurance, or high school diploma required and equivalent work experience required.
- 7 years of insurance experience required.
- 3 years leadership experience required.
- Superior working knowledge of case law, statutes, and procedures impacting the handling and value of claims.
- Proactive investigation, risk transfer, claim handling, attorney management, and claims resolution are essential.
- Superior writing and communication skills to work effectively with insureds, claimants, underwriters, other team members, and upper management.
- Demonstrated senior level management and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize effectively.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities effectively.
- Results driven with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Collaborative partner: ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Ability to think critically and objectively.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
- Solid working proficiencies of business operations, procedures, and priorities with a strong ability to support change and impart value within an organization.
- Proficient in other MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
