Job Summary:
Cafeteria personnel are responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to students and staff in accordance with school nutrition guidelines. They ensure food safety, maintain a clean and organized kitchen, and create a positive dining experience for students.
Food Preparation & Service:
- Assist in preparing and cooking meals following school nutrition guidelines and menus.
- Portion and serve food efficiently to students and staff during meal times.
- Ensure food is presented attractively and at the proper temperatures.
Food Safety & Sanitation:
- Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations as required by state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, serving lines, and equipment.
- Properly store and handle food to prevent contamination and waste.
Customer Service & Student Interaction:
- Provide friendly and courteous service to students, staff, and visitors.
- Assist students with meal selections and encourage healthy eating habits.
- Be patient and understanding when working with students of all ages.
Inventory & Supplies Management:
- Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing food and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the cafeteria manager.
- Help minimize food waste by following portion control guidelines.
Teamwork & Other Duties:
- Work collaboratively with other cafeteria staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow all district policies and procedures related to food service.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in food service or school cafeterias is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of food safety practices (training provided if needed).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Work Environment & Expectations:
