Job Summary:
The Elementary Media and Innovation Specialist is responsible for leading digital literacy initiatives, integrating technology into instruction, and managing media resources to enhance student learning. This role supports teachers and students in developing 21st-century skills, promotes inquiry-based learning, and ensures the effective use of educational technology and media resources across the school.
Technology Integration & Innovation:
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into lessons that align with state and district standards.
- Provide professional development and coaching to educators on using digital tools effectively.
- Explore and implement emerging educational technologies to enhance student engagement.
- Support STEM and maker-space initiatives, including robotics, coding, and hands-on learning projects.
Library & Media Center Management:
- Curate and maintain a diverse collection of print and digital media that supports literacy and research.
- Teach students how to effectively access, evaluate, and use information from various sources.
- Promote literacy through engaging library programs, book clubs, and reading challenges.
Digital Literacy & Information Skills:
- Teach students critical digital citizenship skills, including responsible technology use, online safety, and ethical research practices.
- Support teachers in implementing project-based learning, research skills, and multimedia presentations.
Collaboration & Professional Development:
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and district leaders to support innovation in the classroom.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on media resources, instructional technology, and best practices for integrating digital tools.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and technology vendors to ensure resources align with educational goals.
Compliance & Program Development:
- Ensure compliance with copyright laws, technology policies, and digital safety regulations.
- Develop and implement school-wide initiatives that enhance student engagement with media and technology.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree required
- Valid teaching certification
- Experience in education, library/media services, instructional technology, or innovation coaching.
- Strong knowledge of digital literacy, educational technology, and media center operations.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
