Job Title : Applications Architect - cloud-based architectures and services
Location : Albany, NY - oniste - hybrid role
Duration : 12 Month with possible extension
Mandatory Skills :
- 7 years of experience managing education, government, or corporate projects, with expertise in application design, development, and architecture.
- Proven ability to provide strategic advice to senior management on business and functional matters.
- Experience in evaluating and improving business processes and systems for increased efficiency.
- Experience with cloud-based architectures and services, particularly in an educational or enterprise setting.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or other project management methodologies to manage project timelines and deliverables effectively.
- Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale projects within set deadlines and budgets.
- Experience working in higher education or similar environments, understanding the unique challenges and needs of student systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in large, complex system integrations and data migrations.
- Experience with data governance and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of student data across systems.
7.What are the core technologies currently being used on the project that the candidate should have experience with? Any new tools, requirements, or technologies must be approved by SUNY before being used in any projects. 6 For day-to-day activities in the SUNY consolidation and integration projects, the primary tools include key applications from the Microsoft Suite and TeamDynamix for project management. However, additional tools may be required based on project needs. Core Tools Used :
Microsoft Suite : Microsoft Teams : Communication and virtual meetings. Microsoft Outlook : Email, calendar, and scheduling. Microsoft Excel : Data tracking and reporting. Microsoft Word : Documentation and project specifications. Microsoft PowerPoint : Presentations and project updates. Microsoft OneDrive : File sharing and storage. Microsoft Project : Project planning and scheduling. TeamDynamix : Used for project management, timekeeping, and generating reports.
SUNY's primary data storage technology is Oracle, which supports both transactional systems and data warehouses. Additionally, SUNY is working towards consolidating and integrating various platforms into a cohesive IT environment based on specific needs. Technologies that may be involved in this effort include :
Banner (SIS) Brightspace (LMS) Mulesoft Oracle Databases Slate (CRM) PeopleSoft Jenzabar CAMS PowerCampus Various in-house solutions The specific systems to be integrated or consolidated will depend on the project's scope and the campuses involved. A comprehensive list of technologies and external systems will be defined as the project progresses.
Scope of Services
The Applications Architect for Student Systems will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions to support student management and educational technologies. This role requires expertise in software architecture and a commitment to enhancing the student experience through innovative solutions. The architect will provide strategic guidance and advice to the Project Director, Implementation Leads, DTP Teams, and Division Directors on business and functional matters. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with the Project Management Office (PMO) to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to project management tools and processes
