Description:

Client is seeks a Network Administrator ("Network Engineer”) to design, configure, and manage on-premises and cloud networks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting network components (e.g., switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute), decommissioning legacy infrastructure, and maintaining network efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical expertise, proficiency in creating network diagrams, strong knowledge of protocols, and the ability to collaborate with city staff for testing and training.

Task List:

• Design and implement on-premises and cloud network architectures.
• Configure network switches, routing, and VLANs.
• Set up VPNs and direct CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure Expressroute).
• Plan and assess decommissioning of legacy network components.
• Execute decommissioning with minimal disruption.
• Update network documentation after decommissioning.
• Create detailed network diagrams.
• Work with City staff on configuration and decommissioning.
• Test network performance for validation.
• Submit weekly progress reports to city staff.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to city staff.
• Other related tasks identified by LADBS

Work Products and Outcomes: Contractor shall meet the following key high-level work products and outcomes:

• Design, manage, and troubleshoot on-premises and cloud network architectures aligned with business goals.
• Configure and maintain network switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure Expressroute).
• Provide advanced technical support for escalated network-related issues.
• Collaborate with City staff to decommission legacy network components and ensure minimal disruption.
• Create detailed network diagrams and update documentation to support infrastructure reliability.
• Conduct performance testing to validate network scalability and efficiency.
• Deliver training and knowledge transfer to city staff on network processes.
• Other related tasks identified by LADBS.

Performance Specifications:

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• 3 years of proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role, with a track record of designing and managing robust on-premises and cloud network architectures.
• 5 years of demonstrated technical proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network switches, routing protocols, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect).
• Strong expertise in network design, decommissioning legacy infrastructure, and optimizing performance in enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in creating detailed network diagrams and maintaining up-to- date documentation.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and adapt to changes in a fast- paced work environment.
• Certifications in related fields would be an advantage (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AZ-700).
• 5 years of experience managing and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure.
