What are the responsibilities and job description for the SMT Operator position at Slingshot ConnectionS?
Hours: 6a.m. to 2:30p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate SMT equipment, including screen printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
- Load and unload components onto SMT machines according to production specifications.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust settings as needed to maintain optimal output and quality.
- Inspect printed circuit boards (PCBs) for soldering defects, component placement accuracy, and overall quality.
- Perform manual touch-up soldering when necessary.
- Utilize inspection tools such as microscopes and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machines.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of SMT machines to ensure smooth operation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues; escalate major problems to maintenance technicians or supervisors.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs.
- Record production data, including quantity produced, defects, and downtime.
- Complete necessary documentation for each production run.
- Report production issues or quality concerns to the supervisor.
- Work closely with the engineering team to implement process improvements.
- Collaborate with quality control and other production staff to ensure a seamless workflow.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate in electronics or related field preferred.
- Experience in SMT operation or electronics manufacturing is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with SMT equipment such as screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and AOI machines preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of electronic components and PCB assembly preferred but not required.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and assembly instructions.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle small electronic components.
- Good vision or corrected vision to see small details.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $19.00 per hour
