What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art History Instructor position at Slippery Rock University?
The SRU Art Department is seeking a full-time temporary instructor for the 2025-2026 academic year to teach Art History courses and Creative and Aesthetic Inquiry courses as assigned. This is a one-year full-time position with benefits; salary commensurate with experience. The position is open to candidates with expertise in any area of art history, with a preference given to Art Historians who can teach a wide array of courses, including the ability to teach a general education course in Visual Art Inquiry, plus Overviews of Western and World Art History and upper-level courses covering Foundations of Modern Art, North American Art, plus other specialized period survey courses. The teaching load will be 4-4 (12 credit workload). Courses will include core fine arts courses, global surveys of art history, and upper division courses. Departmental service is expected. Finalists will be required to give a teaching demonstration; full consideration given to applications received on or before April 18, 2025.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Art History or equivalent PhD degree in closely related field required.

Submission of Teaching Philosophy and Professional Writing Samples are required.
Successful performance in an interview and teaching demonstration are required.
