What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geology Instructor position at Slippery Rock University?
Slippery Rock University invites applications for a one-semester temporary position in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Geosciences beginning August 2025. We are seeking a broadly trained geologist or environmental scientist to teach undergraduate physical science courses for a general education audience. The successful candidate may incorporate geological or environmental science topics into the general education course but the course must focus on developing scientific literacy and communication skills.
It is expected that the successful candidate will have a commitment to the education of a diverse population and actively participate in the department. Faculty members are required to hold a minimum of five hours of student consultation (office hours) on at least three different days. For Fall 2025, the position will be 100% online.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in geology, geoscience, or a related discipline required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching geology or environmental science at the undergraduate level. Experience with online teaching, PhD in geology, geoscience, or related discipline preferred. Candidates with experience in either structural geology or geochemistry are encouraged to apply.
