NONPROFIT MANAGER

Smart Living, Learning & Earning with Autism in Eugene, OR is looking to hire a full-time Manager for our Advanced Placement Program (APP) to coordinate all operations and activities of the APP House. ABOUT SMART LIVING, LEARNING & EARNING WITH AUTISM (SLLEA)

Smart Living, Learning & Earning with Autism (SLLEA) was founded as a human services pilot program in 2014 to help adults with autism achieve and maintain meaningful independence in their lives. In 2015, SLLEA was formed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In 2016, we began full program operations as a licensed Oregon Medicaid provider agency, offering a 10-month intensive training program focused on independent living. Our comprehensive program of autism-specific direct supports, skills training, social coaching, and use of self-management technology is carefully designed to foster sustained personal growth and self-confidence across three pivotal adult transition areas: independent living, higher education, and meaningful employment.

Our nonprofit is made up of a human services team of amazingly passionate, empathetic people. They work hard to help our students learn the skills they need to succeed so we, in turn, do everything we can to help our team succeed too. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MANAGER

As a Manager, you coordinate all operations and activities of the APP (Advanced Placement Program) House, helping us create a world of support for autism. You act as liaison, advocate, and coordinator for our students' involvement in support groups, self-advocacy, vocational programming, transportation services, integrated community activities, recreation, and learning independent living skills. Always careful to model appropriate social skills and behaviors for our students, you supervise staff training and development through teaching. You mentor, act as a role model, and guide staff on how to appropriately work with and interact with our students, their families, and other agencies. With your exceptional interpersonal skills, you are able to foster open and supportive communication with your staff, students, families, LCDDS, and other community organizations.

Conscientiously, you keep accurate and up-to-date documentation and communicate any medical issues to staff and families using appropriate logs. You oversee our student's medical needs, including managing medications and assisting them with any health issues. With an attentive eye for detail, you oversee the maintenance of the house, including cleanliness and necessary preventative maintenance. You also take care of safety issues and any emergency situations. You find it very rewarding to help our students learn how to lead independent, self-fulfilling lives!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MANAGER

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass a background check upon hire
  • Drivere's license and a clean driving record
  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn new programs quickly
  • First aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first 30 days
  • A basic understanding of ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and some of the supports and accommodations for it
  • The patience, empathy, and understanding to work with adults who have ASD (autism spectrum disorder)

If you have a bachelor's degree in a related field or 2 years of experience in a supervisory position or human services position, that would be a plus. Are you highly organized and detail-oriented? Do you have exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills? Are you a natural leader who can prioritize and delegate tasks efficiently? Are you eager to pursue learning and remain knowledgeable and up to date on trends and issues concerning autism and the disabled community? Are you respectful, discreet, and honest? Do you have both empathy and a clear understanding of appropriate professional boundaries? Are you reliable, punctual, organized, and able to effectively prioritize tasks? If yes, you might just be perfect for this Manager position.
