Position Summary
The Junior Buyer ensures that assigned bidding and tactical tasks are completed on time and at the optimal price. Services must meet company and customer specifications while also meeting quality standards. This is a in office full-time with a work schedule of Monday-Friday
Essential Job Requirements
- Manages bid process for both prospective and existing customers
- Analyzes bids and other information received to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of information.
- Prepares requests for bids which provide accurate, detailed information to current and potential Strategic Partner or vendors about the services the company seeks to purchase as well as the specific customer requirements that must be met
- Seeks price quotes from multiple Strategic Partners and negotiates to secure the optimal pricing solution on services of comparable value
- Investigates potential Strategic Partners to ensure their reliability and the quality of their services
- Conducts market research by contacting new or existing Strategic Partners or customers for referrals
- Update Strategic Partner database as needed.
- Provide administrative and data entry support to the Procurement Department as requested.
- Junior Buyers are assigned to collaborate with Senior Buyers on a project to project basis.
Qualifications
- College degree strongly preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years’ similar experience working in a fast-paced environment, customer service, and/or purchasing experience preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills required.
- Must have strong Word, and Outlook skills
- Excel skills—demonstrated ability to create and properly format a spreadsheet, sort and filter data, enter formulas
- Solid attention to detail; must demonstrate quality documentation practices
- Superior phone etiquette a must; ability to relate to customers and Strategic Partners in a professional manner.
- Must be able to handle multiple priorities to meet established deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written, listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization and follow-up skills.
- Able to function independently within the scope of assigned responsibility as well as being a contributor to the team
