Position: 8-Person Head Football Coach
Purpose of the Position/Job Summary:
As a vital part of the SLO Classical Academy team, the Head Football Coach is responsible for developing and maintaining the 8-Person Football program aligned with SLOCA’s athletic mission statement. He or she must ensure that the football team maintains safety standards in relation to staff, students, and spectators.

Stipend, Independent Contractor
Job Structure:
The Head Football Coach position is a seasonal position, with coaching taking place from May - November.
Education and experience:
- Demonstrated successful coaching for the specific sport for which applying.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques, as well as the advanced techniques needed for competitive athletes.
- Demonstrated personality and character traits appropriate to educational leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a disciplined program.
- Demonstrated management and organizational skills.
- High school varsity level, college playing, and/or coaching experience required in the specific sport for which applying.
- CPR Training and First Aid Certification.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Athletic Director and the High School Director.
- Plan, execute, and coach the 8-person Football Team
- Interacts with the Athletic Director regarding student discipline issues.
- Interacts with other coaches, teachers, and school staff.
- Represents SLOCA within the CIF SS and the Coast Valley League.
- Recruits, manages, and mentors assistant coaches to ensure high-quality programs.
- Plan, execute, and coach the 8-Person Football Team.
- Is familiar with and adheres to all rules and regulations as set out by CIF 8-person football.
- Provide a solid development plan for the team and players; set and manage improvement milestones.
- Solidify game schedule - add scrimmages and non-league games as appropriate, and finalize league schedule.
- Maintain clear and regular communication regarding season schedules (game and practice) to the AD, all athletes, parents, and coaches - serve as the point person for schedule changes.
- Coordinate equipment and gear; provide written requests with budget estimates to the AD for approval.
- Perform services in a manner that complies with the SLO Classical Academy Professional Code of Conduct and CIF Code of Ethics.
- Intervene with misconduct issues (Code of Conduct-Athlete), and follow up with parents and AD as required.
- Serve as the point person for field use and condition for practice at SLOCA and others as feasible; work with the AD to secure appropriate game field space for future seasons.
- Ensure proper supervision during practices and games to help protect students from injury or diminish the risk of student injury.
- Promote a physically, emotionally, and socially secure climate for students, assistant coaches, and visitors.
- Ensure COVID protocols are followed.
- Maintain CIF game and player stats in the appropriate platforms (maxprep, etc.).
- Plan and execute summer camp.
- Support athletics fundraising as required; participate in Student Spirit events as feasible
- Develop a proposed strategy to grow the SLOCA football program
Physical Demands:*
Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Able to stand for an extended period of time regularly and participate in athletic activities as needed.
