NOTE: This role can be split into two positions, one for Girls Varsity and one for Boys Varsity at stipends between $3,000 - $4,000 per role.

POSITION PURPOSE / JOB SUMMARY
As a vital part of the SLO Classical Academy team, the Varsity Golf Coach is responsible for developing and maintaining the Varsity Golf Program aligned with SLOCA’s athletic mission statement.
JOB STRUCTURE AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- The Varsity Golf Coach position is a seasonal position with coaching taking place from August 2025 - November 2025 (Girls Varsity) and February 2026 - May 2026 (Boys Varsity)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques as well as advanced techniques needed for competitive athletes
- High school varsity-level, college playing, and/or coaching experience required in golf
- Effective communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Obtain/maintain all necessary coaching requirements
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Live Scan Background Clearance
- Demonstrated personality and character traits appropriate for educational leadership
- Demonstrated management and organizational skills

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, execute, and coach the Varsity Golf Team
- Interacts with the Athletic Director (AD) regarding student discipline issues
- Interacts with other coaches, teachers, and school staff
- Communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Perform services in a manner that complies with the SLO Classical Academy Professional Code of Conduct
- Intervene with misconduct issues (Code of Conduct-Athlete), and follow up with parents and AD as required
- Coordinate equipment and gear; provide written requests with budget estimates to the AD for approval
- Serve as the point person for practice course use and condition for practice
- Ensure proper supervision during practices and matches to help protect students from injury or diminish the risk of student injury
- Promote a physically, emotionally, and socially secure climate for students, assistant coaches, and visitors
- Be present at all practices and matches or have a designated coach in charge until all players have left the field or building
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit on the floor, walk, and reach overhead for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels. Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.
