Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in construction estimating and project management, with a strong background in cost control and contract negotiation. This role is critical for ensuring accurate project pricing and fostering successful project execution from inception to completion. The Chief Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver competitive and precise estimates that align with our organizational goals.
Duties
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for various construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed estimates.
- Collaborate with project management teams to assess project scope and requirements.
- Utilize estimating software such as B2W, Insite or Agtek to enhance accuracy in pricing.
- Conduct thorough market research to determine material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
- Monitor ongoing projects for cost control and provide recommendations for efficiency improvements.
- Prepare bid proposals and present them to clients, ensuring clarity on scope and pricing.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to each project.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chief Estimator or similar role within the construction industry with at least 5 or more years in excavation and underground utilities.
- Strong knowledge of construction management practices and principles.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software, particularly B2W, Insite or Agtek.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project documents.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract negotiations.
- Familiarity with cost control measures and budgeting processes in construction projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information to stakeholders.
