Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides leadership, guidance and direction to assigned areas of SMA; directly supervises program supervisors and other staff who provide services to children and/or adults who have been identified as in need of SMA services.
  • Facilitates direct program services as required.
  • Develops and maintains program policies and procedures in conjunction with other division managers to ensure consistency in the delivery of services across all agency operations, and communicates the policies and procedures to assigned personnel.
  • Works as part of a larger operational team of supervisors and directors overseeing programming design, implementation, and delivery that is consistent with model fidelity.
  • Implements and ensures consistent use of the electronic medical record, pursuant to agency policy and procedures.
  • Attends required trainings and meetings and relays information to staff.
  • Makes presentations to other agencies and community groups as authorized by Vice President; may act as liaison with other agencies, payers and the community, when directed.
  • Ensures effectiveness and efficiency through the establishment of process and outcome measures.
  • Analyzes measurement data monthly and initiates performance improvement activities accordingly.
  • Conducts chart reviews and ensures chart compliance.
  • Advances and encourages innovative ideas for improving the overall effectiveness of the assigned programs.
  • Oversees and assists with program budget planning; reviews opportunities for new funding; reviews program expenses; facilitates fiscal information exchange between departments.
  • Ensures a competent and effective staff by directing their selection, development, training, supervision and on-going evaluation.
  • Ensures professional, positive, accurate and effective coordination with internal/external departments/agencies.
  • Facilitates and disseminates findings from audits.
  • Creates and implements corrective action plans (CAP) when required.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and/or Experience: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree and five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in the field of addiction and/or mental health required. Master's Degree preferred. Licensure as LMFT, LMHC, or LCSW preferred. Experience in managing clinical program/staff preferred. Certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) preferred. Additional education, licensure, certification, and/or experience may be required per specific program guidelines.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory, licensure, and credentialing bodies to include but not limited to 65-D-30 and 65-E of the FAC; Medicaid, Medicare, CARF.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles of management, substance abuse and mental health treatment, psychiatry, counseling, and psychology.
  • Ability to inspire, supervise and lead the work of others.
  • Knowledge of the principles of learning and training.
  • Ability to quickly assess situations and use sound judgment in defusing potentially risky situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, medical and clinical professionals, and the general public.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise written reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with other employees, program staff, persons receiving services, outside organizations, and others.

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment. Complete SMA required training during the first six (6) months of employment and updated if required.

Physical: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 10 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12 hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Work assignment locations may vary.
