Position: Light Vehicle/Support Equipment Mechanic

Pay Rate: Competitive Hourly Wage (Depending on Experience) safety bonus

Schedule: 4 on 3 off, 10-hour shifts, days only. OT available

Area: Northern Nevada - Battle Mountain

General Position Overview

Under the direction of the site master mechanic, light vehicle/support equipment mechanics are responsible for performing major repairs and minor repairs on light vehicles and support equipment. Our fleet includes (but is not limited to):

• Caterpillar - 414E Industrial Loaders, D4 Dozers, Telehandlers
• Getman - Explosives Trucks, Lube Trucks
• JLG Skytrak - Forklifts, Man Lifts
• New Holland, Kioti, Bobcat, Case IH tractors.
• Ford, Chevy, and Dodge pickups and vans
  
  

Duties And Responsibilities

Our mechanics are tasked with conducting audits, building scopes of work, and creating bills of material. This position requires the ability to replace major components, replace hosing, replace/build wire harnesses, along with various other repairs all with a high level of quality following guidelines from the OEMs as well as SMD’s standards. Data entry will be required into the CMMS.

Applicants Must

Experience and Qualification Requirements

• Work with a safety-first mind set and maintain situational awareness at all times.
• Have experience maintaining Sandvik drilling and haulage equipment, Epiroc drilling and haulage equipment, Caterpillar surface and underground equipment.
• Be proficient in interpreting electrical and hydraulic schematics, as well as ability to redline or draft complete schematics.
• Be competent with the use of service, parts, and operator’s manuals - both digital and paper.
• Have knowledge and understanding of all underground (hard rock) mining equipment applications.
• Have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and work in year-round weather conditions.
• Possess knowledge and experience with diagnostic software.
• Have experience with fluid power diagnostics.
• Have experience with OEM and retrofit emissions products such as passive DPFs, active DPFs, and SCR systems.
• Have the ability to weld and use a cutting torch.
