Asphalt Plant Operator
Job Description:
- Must be able to operate the asphalt plant and computer system to loadout asphalt.
- An asphalt plant operator manages equipment that sends hot mix asphalt materials through a mixing drum and into a storage silo until it is time to be loaded into trucks. Then load out trucks and produce weight tickets.
- As an asphalt plant operator, you collaborate with the quality control department to inspect each batch of product to ensure a quality mix is produced.
- Your job duties also include material ordering, inventory management, plant maintenance, and record keeping.
- Asphalt plant operators maintain safety policies and all necessary paperwork, and need to communicate with road crews, truck drivers, dispatchers, and other coworkers.
- You should be able to operate industrial processing equipment and heavy mobile equipment such as a loader, Dump Truck, man-lift or conveyor systems and have basic math and computer skills.
- You need to have enough physical fitness and stamina to stand for the majority of your shift and be able to lift 50 to 90 pounds. You must be aware of and follow all safety procedures.
- Some positions may require you to train and supervise asphalt workers and other general laborers.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must pass drug and alcohol pre-employment screening
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Prior Asphalt plant operation a plus
- Previous Asphalt experience, preferred
- Basic computer and math skills
- Be able to learn asphalt mixes and products
- Ability to do manual labor
