Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years experience as an apprentice or licensed optician (1 year minimum).

We believe in emphasizing quality over quantity when it comes to our patients and employees. 30 minute eye exams and scheduled hour-long frame pick-outs are the norm. In our opticals, we don't sell to patients; we educate them on their options and help them make informed decisions. As an apprentice or licensed optician, we can keep you busy and moving without feeling rushed and we make an honest effort to enjoy what we do while serving the community.

Our patient base has more than tripled over the last 2 years and we are currently adding nearly 100 new patients per month. As our practice grows, so do opportunities within it. Please note: as our patient volume has increased, so has base pay, benefits and bonuses for our staff.

Participation-optional March Madness, Fantasy Football and soup / chili cook off competitions are yearly traditions and yes, winners do receive prizes ($$$). Did we mention our chocolate station yet? We have a space in our break area dedicated to having a variety of chocolates available to our employees at all times. Also, don't be surprised to see homemade Baklava, Texas Sheet Cake, or Brownies sitting next to the coffee maker on Monday mornings. Small Town Eye Care serves North Central Ohio with our main office located in Wellington and a satellite office in New New London (a 3rd location is expected to be added as we continue to grow) and we are community-focused in our care and relationships with our patients.

Summery of Apprentice Optician/Licensed Optician Responsibilities:

• Obtaining patient prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists.
• Taking customer information and measurements of the ocular area.
• Recommending frames or contact lenses that suit the customer's style, face, and specifications.
• Adjusting and fitting frames according to the prescriptions and customer's specifications, as well as to suit the customer's face.
• Preparing work orders for the optical technicians to use to manufacture the lenses.
• Using specialized equipment, such as calipers, lensometers, and lens gauges.
• Keeping inventory on frames and contact lenses to ensure product variety and customer satisfaction.
• Repairing broken frames.
• Educating customers on how to wear and maintain glasses and contact lenses.
• Performing administrative duties, such as managing prescriptions, customer records, and insurance.
• Dispensing glasses and contacts.
• Answering phones and scheduling patients if needed.
