Job Description for Substitute Teacher Assistant: We are looking for a nurturing individual to be a floating teacher assistant for Nursery-PreK. This is a substitute TA position. The candidate will work closely with various lead teachers in conducting daily responsibilities listed below. To be successful as a teacher assistant, you must have a passion for children and exercise patience with them. You must be dependable. You must display a Christ-like attitude, impeccable customer service, and greet parents and staff in a friendly manner. Ultimately, you will provide constant supervision for the children in your care to ensure their safety.
Qualifications:Candidate must be:
- At least 18 years of age.
- A high school graduate or equivalent.
- Cleared of any criminal record.
- CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain certifications upon hire.
- DCF certified by completing the required 45 hours of DCF training or be willing to complete it within the first year.
- Mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children.
- Punctual, dependable, consistent, and a commitment to adhere to our standards of excellence
- Aware of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities.
Responsibilities:
Candidate will:
- Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development.
- Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times.
- Assist children with activities of daily life. (e.g., diapering/restroom use, feeding, dressing, outdoor play, nap time)
- Help facilitate daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children.
- Create and maintain an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children.
- Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service.
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing curriculum and planning daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children.
- Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on nights and/or weekends.
- Communicate daily activities, through our school-adopted app (as necessary), regarding eating, sleeping, and diaper changing.
- Communicate with the Lead Teacher regarding all aspects of the children’s care as well as classroom management.
- Maintain a highly-professional self-image and project the character and values of the organization at all times.
