Baker / Decorator – Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery, Jacksonville, FL

Our ideal candidate is a Professional who is passionate about creating beautifully aesthetic work. Must be a team player, open to training, learn quickly, and enjoy a fast paced work environment.
The Baker & Decorator will be responsible for baking, creating and decorating baked goods, cleaning, and managing inventory and products. They will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient service to customers and communicating effectively with team members.
Standard weekly hours: 18-20 hours a week with 2 days or more off. Work hours can vary based on orders and set up and delivery at events.
Key Responsibilities
PRODUCTION
CUPCAKES
- Bake and decorate hundreds of cupcakes daily, cakes, other sweet treats as assigned within the time frame allotted
- Decorate cupcakes to our Smallcakes specification, ensure quality control and fulfill special orders accurately
- Execute recipes precisely and perform basic math functions needed to follow franchise recipes
CAKES
- We will train you on Smallcakes décor and design
- Decorate shop cakes, specialty, wedding and custom order cakes
- Use decorating skills to produce impeccably decorated cakes.
- Deliver and set up wedding and special order cakes
SPECIAL & CUSTOM ORDERS
- Work with customers to accurately capture details and define décor for cake and cupcake orders, and confirm details with customer
- Exhibit expertise in our menu and be able to answer customer questions and assist in taking special orders
- Plan baking and décor schedule appropriately to accurately and efficiently produce special and custom orders
- Exhibits pride, artistic ability, creativity and exceptional attention to detail to produce meticulous work that reflects highest standards of quality and creativity
- Deliver and set-up orders to customer venues, as required
KITCHEN MANGEMENT
- Maintain the highest level of kitchen cleanliness and organization, including sanitizing work areas, maintaining clean ovens and baking areas.
- Assist with inventory
- Receive supplies from delivery trucks and put supplies away
- Date and rotate received supplies as per guidelines from the health department
- Follows Company policies and procedures for preparing, handling, packaging, labeling, and storing food, operating and sanitizing food-related equipment, stocking and displaying food products, and maintaining and cleaning.
TEAM
- Work effectively with team and represent brand with respect
- Guide, train, and delegate work to other team members
- Communicate with front of the house to ensure sufficient par levels of baked goods
- Work front counter as needed
GENERAL
- Performs inventory checks
- Assist management in accomplishing company duties, communicating goals and feedback, teaching, training, and ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures
- Assist with marketing and community service
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Perform physical requirements of position
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Use hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation repetitively
- Safely handle environmental exposure to extreme temperature (refrigerator, ovens, freezer)
- Work mornings, days, Holidays, and weekends, if needed
- Respond to work request from others, as needed
- Follow and comply with established procedures including weight and measures, and comply with all applicable health and sanitation procedures
- When needed, make sure customers receive and experience exemplary customer service
- Cross train in front of the house to help during busy times or work independently
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Have or obtain food handlers certification
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- Must be able to work independently with little to no direction
- Friendly, pleasant, and outgoing personality
- Excellent verbal skills
- Able to problem solve as issues arise
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 18 – 20 per week
