What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker/Cupcake Decorator position at Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery (Charlotte Utopia)?
Our Smallcakes location is now hiring a Baker/Cupcake Decorator to join our team immediately. We offer a fun and fast paced environment with opportunity to learn and grow!
Experience in Baking and Caking Decorating is preferred. Novice candidates will be considered as long as they have a passion for the field and open to learning.
Ideal candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Decorate cupcakes and custom cakes to company standards
- Bake and prepare variety of desserts, including ice cream, according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, etc
- Operate equipments such as ovens, mixers, blenders, etc
- Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Hand cleans and sanitizes work area, equipment, and utensils
- Maintains excellent guest service and positive attitude toward guests, clients, co-workers, etc
- Adhere to Smallcakes safety policies and procedures, including proper food safety and sanitation
- Maintain adequate inventory at all times and ensure kitchen items are stocked
- Recognize when inventory is low and take action to resolve within scope of abilities
- Fulfill supply/demand of custom cakes for guests in a timely manner
- Train new team members on baking and decorating of cupcakes and cakes
- Clean bakery work area, organize and stock as needed
- Learn POS system and fill in when needed to handle cash transactions
- Lead a successful shift by maintaining a positive guest experience
Qualifications to include but not limited to:
- 1 years of Baking experience in a commercial setting (preferred)
- 1 years of Cake Decorating in a commercial setting with examples of previous work (preferred)
- Preferred to be experienced with fondant work and have examples to show
- Proven knowledge of baking methods and standards and food safety regulations, such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
- Demonstrate basic math and accounting skills
- Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to bend and lift 50lbs
- Ability to work in a fast paced and physical environment
- Ability to multitask and be a team player
- People oriented...great guest service skills
- Detail oriented while working with a sense of urgency
- Must have open availability to include nights and weekend (schedule may vary each week)
