We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with varying needs, including those with autism, dementia, and other developmental disabilities. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for the individuals you assist by promoting independence and facilitating daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide patient care and support in home community settings, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs and preferences.
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in health status to appropriate personnel.
- Support clients in social activities and community engagement to foster independence and social skills.
- Assist individuals with mobility challenges, ensuring their safety during transitions and activities.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop effective strategies for care delivery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any incidents that occur during shifts.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home care or direct support roles is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of patient care practices, including vital signs monitoring and dementia care techniques.
- Familiarity with working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Ability to follow care plans accurately while being adaptable to changing needs.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others achieve their personal goals.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
