Job Description:-
The IBM Z Storage Administrator will work with the IBM mainframe team to install, customize, and maintain the IBM Z Storage environment, which encompasses DASD, Tape and SanFabric. This role will support to the Technology team, which has received extensive investments and will continue to undergo rapid expansion throughout 2027 and beyond.
As a Storage Administrator, you will:
Manage system performance, reliability and availability to service level agreements
Ensure that hardware and application security and controls meet or exceed guidelines
Design rollouts of system enhancements and software upgrades
Perform periodic hardware refresh of DASD, Directors and Tape.
Develop, manage and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for all managed systems.
Create standards for supported systems and maintain detailed documentation of the mainframe storage infrastructure, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Be responsible for trouble shooting and identifying the root cause of issues and implementing effective solutions.
Provide monthly usage reports and periodic updates to management.
Automate processes using VMWare Automation tools
Create documentation and SOP's
Provide Operations Support
Interaction with Service Center, Network Control Center and other business support areas for problem escalations, resolutions, reporting and coordination
You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline preferred.
8-12 years of relevant work experience.
Hands on experience in a GDPS, Global Mirror, Metro Mirror, HiperSwap environment.
Thorough knowledge and expertise with HCD in a large scale enterprise environment with numerous CECs across multiple locations
Knowledge of Brocade SAN equipment and associated management tools (Brocade Network Advisor)
Experience installing and configuring IBM Mainframes, Virtual Tape systems, and DS8000 DASD.
Knowledge of dataset structures. (PDS, PDSE, GDG, VSAM, etc.)
Experience Administering DFSMS policies and constructs
Knowledge and experience with IBM Flashcopy process
Knowledge of FDR/ABR and DFDSS
Experience with CA1 Tape Management Software
Experience with TDMF
- Coding Languages: Assembler, Automation, GDPS, Rexx and CLIST skills Proficiency in Security software tools: RACF and ACF2 and performance monitoring using Omegamon, RMF, SMF and SAS
