Job Description
This position is responsible for the safety of all personnel (currently there are over 500 personnel), including the management of accountability for all safety related incidents within the facility. This position demands someone with a command presence and will be the change agent to drive to a zero accident-free environment. The purpose of this position is to drive our Safety program to ensure a safe, effective, and efficient workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, this includes appropriate OSHA and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
- Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, federal and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Responsible for preparing and submitting reports including, but not limited to required accident reports, OSHA logs, Enablon, and EPA.
- The position shall be responsible for the safety and accountability of all its employees.
- Ensure all equipment, common personnel protective equipment (PPE), and tools issued to employees are properly inventoried and controlled.
- Chair the safety committee meetings and will be fully responsible for root cause analysis of all safety incidents.
- Responsible for monitoring, reporting and coordinating Safety Program functions, including, but not limited to accident / injury reports, safety inspections and hazardous / unsafe work conditions.
- Facilitate H&S drills including Fire & Evacuation Drills, Weather Drills, Hazmat Drills
- Provide incident and near miss support including patient care and follow-up actions, investigation, tracking and trending details for H&S events
- Maintain documented evidence of required safety and job-related training related to safety
- Must have a good working knowledge of safety regulations, systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
- Must possess a strong desire to provide excellent solutions and interact with coworkers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Participate in all government inspections dealing with regulatory agencies
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Role Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have a good working knowledge of safety regulations, systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general computer knowledge; internet software; spreadsheet software, word processing software and MS Office Suite.
- Two or more years of experience with workers’ compensation
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience leading site EH&S activities
- Previous experience leading safety culture improvement
- Previous experience in reduction of risk in employee behaviors as well as unsafe conditions
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean and/or other process improvement methodologies desired
