What are the responsibilities and job description for the Union Sheet Metal Apprentice position at SMART Local Union 71?
We are seeking applicants for our next apprenticeship class. Important: once you complete the really application, keep an eye out for a follow-up email with further details. Our apprentices spend five years learning to fabricate and install HVAC equipment, weld using MIG, TIG and stick techniques and fashion copper and slate roofs, both in the classroom and field. The training is fully paid for by the union and our contractors. Significant annual raises culminate in a $39.50/hour wage upon graduation from the program. We offer two pensions and an annuity designed to allow our members to retire years before most other working people. Health insurance is zero premium and zero deductible and kicks in after one month of work. The road is long and the work is hard, but the payoff is hard to match without a professional degree, all with no student debt. Bonuses may be available to people with significant experience currently working in the HVAC, welding and architectural roofing spheres. Reach out today to learn how to get started down this path.
