Job Title: Production Supervisor
Job Summary: The Production Supervisor oversees steel shop fabrication, production, and scheduling operations. This role ensures adherence to safety, quality, and production standards, manages personnel, and drives efficiency to maximize profits. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining records, ensuring timely project completion, and leading employee training and development.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in structural steel fabrication.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to motivate teams and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems; Global Shop experience preferred.
- Knowledge of AWS, AISC standards, and the ability to interpret shop drawings.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; College Degree preferred.
- Ability to translate policies into daily routine operations
- ERP/MRP experience: Global Shop preferred.
- Successfully pass a background check, including criminal history, drug screen, physical, audiogram, and vision test.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire workings throughout the production department
- Ensures the product being manufactured meets the company’s standards, policies and practices
- Confer with the Production and Plant Manager to ensure that manufacturing objectives are being met
- Supervise the work of the whole staff working for within the Production department
- Weekly time management approvals and submission to management in ERP system.
- Interviews department candidates
- Addresses employee relations issues, such as work complaints or other employee concerns
- Creates and administers employee written warnings and submit to management
- Assist with employee evaluations
- Create a continuous improvement environment, teamwork, and a dedication to execute the right things the first time.
- Interact with employees and assist customers in response to their concerns, questions, or complaints.
- Recommends new equipment, methods and facilities to Management Team
- Meets production objectives by forecasting job requirements and potential barriers.
- Establishes priorities, controls process, and resolves issues to maintain efficiency.
- Effectively plan the use of personnel, production machinery and other resources.
- Assures compliance with corporate regulations pertaining to Human Resources and Safety.
- Works to improve production processes and procedures.
Specialized Knowledge:
Individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position. Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: AWS structural and seismic codes, ACSE, and AISC standards and codes; production/material specifications related to the fabrication and erection of structural steel.
- General knowledge of fabrication standards and procedures.
- General knowledge of AISC standards and AWS codes.
- Ability to read and interpret shop and design drawings.
- Ability to manage large multiple commercial and industrial projects and meet stringent deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with all departments and other divisions.
- General understanding and knowledge of basic drafting skills, 3D modeling, fabrication standards, standard technical terminology, common structural steel practices, and drafting room procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $28.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week
