We are a fully integrated sand supply and services company, offering complete sand, logistics, storage, and management solutions to our customers with our in-basin trans-loading terminals and our smartsystem storage capabilities. We own and operate premium frac sand mines and related processing facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois, which have access to three Class I rail lines, allowing us to deliver products substantially anywhere in the United States and Canada.

The District Field Services Manager will be responsible for multiple crews. This position focuses on service quality by developing and implementing strategies for equipment used in oilfield services. This position will actively identify opportunities for process improvement through a focus on asset performance, emergency response planning, and the implementation of best practices.

The position will work under the supervision of the Last Mile Solutions Manager (LMSM)or whomever Smart Sand management may designate from time to time but will require taking direction from other Smart Sand managers.

This position can be based primarily at either Triadelphia West Vergina, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania or Minerva, Ohio. The areas of travel would be concentrated in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians and support staff. Provides leadership, guidance, and training to ensure the team’s competency and adherence to safety standards.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies for equipment used in oilfield services. Plan and schedule routine maintenance and service activities to ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment.
  • Oversee the maintenance of a fleet of vehicles, machinery, and equipment. Implement strategies for extending the life cycle of assets and optimizing their performance.
  • Develop and implement stand-by schedule for emergency response in the case of equipment failures or accidents. Coordinate with other departments to ensure a swift and affective response in case of emergencies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the maintenance department. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance overall efficiency.
  • Work with the LMSM to develop the maintenance budget for the region. Control costs through effective resource allocation and procurement strategies.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Implement and enforce safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance standards for maintenance activities. Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets industry and company standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source quality parts and services. Negotiate contracts and agreements to obtain the best value for the company.
  • Use data analysis tools to assess equipment performance and identify areas for improvement. Implement data-driven decision-making processes to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain clear communication channels with other departments and regional offices. Report regularly to LMSM on maintenance activities, challenges, and achievements.
  • Stay informed about relevant industry regulations and ensure that the maintenance practices adhere to these standards.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance or related business field or relevant work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Safeland and H2S training and certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

§ Must be a self-starter and able to work with some supervision.

  • Good judgment and strong negotiation skills required.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must have high safety standards for self and others.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Must be willing to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
