Overview
Are you a jack of all trades in the automotive field? We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Parts Specialist / Service Advisor for our Independent shop specializing in Subaru, Honda and Toyota. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing a parts department as well as having the ability to fill in as backup service advisor at times. Also having familiarity with how an independent repair shop functions is a plus. As a parts specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our parts department runs smoothly and efficiently, focusing on maintaining profitability, bringing in new parts as volume dictates and deleting old inventory as it's used less frequently. As a service advisor, you'll fill in from time to time when our advisors are busy or absent, working with customers to schedule appointments, create estimates for work needed and advise customers on repairs needed for their vehicles. The parts specialist is the primary focus of this job.
Responsibilities Parts Specialist and Service Advisor
Parts Specialist
- Manage inventory levels and ensure that parts are stocked and organized efficiently.
- Build parts price/availability quotes for service advisors.
- Pre-Pull parts for active jobs in shop.
- Place orders for new stock, considering projected demand, cost targets, and quality standards
- Implement and maintain inventory control systems to track sales, returns, and warranty record
- Collaborate with mechanics and service advisors to ensure timely availability of parts for vehicle repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized parts department workspace.
Service Advisor
- Field phone calls from customers to schedule appointments.
- Cashier completed jobs, explain in detail all that we did during the repair process to insure customer fully understands value of what we did
- Check customer in, create work orders and estimates.
- Fill in at front counter when advisor is at lunch or on vacation while still maintaining parts responsibilities.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of independent automotive practices.
- Familiarity with automotive parts and systems.
- Experience face to face customer service.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
