Job Description:
The Level 1 A/V Technician plays a critical role in assisting Level 2 and Senior Technicians in the installation and maintenance of audio, video, and control and automations systems. This role involves performing entry-level tasks such as pre-wiring, installing equipment, and basic system troubleshooting under the guidance of more experienced technicians. Additionally, all team members contribute to the growth of the business by identifying potential leads and driving traffic to the company website.
Responsibilities:
-Assist in the installation of audio/video and smart home automation systems in residential and commercial settings, including running wires, mounting equipment, and connecting components.
-Terminate and test low-voltage wiring for A/V systems, ensuring connections meet quality standards.
-Support senior technicians during system configuration and setup, learning how to install and program devices such as control systems, lighting controls, and security systems.
-Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics on systems under supervision, escalating complex issues to senior team members.
-Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites.
-Communicate professionally with clients when assisting in system installation or support, ensuring customer satisfaction.
-Complete daily work logs and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
-Identify potential clients or referral opportunities during site visits and communicate these leads to the sales team.
-Promote the company website to potential customers and assist in generating new business opportunities for Smart Systems.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
1. Installation Efficiency:
-Percentage of installations completed within the scheduled timeframe.
-Number of projects requiring minimal rework or corrections post-installation.
2. Technical Accuracy:
-Success rate of terminations and wiring connections passing initial tests.
3. Customer Satisfaction:
-Positive feedback scores from clients based on post-installation surveys.[TR1]
-Number of service calls or follow-up visits required after initial installation.
4. Lead Generation and Revenue Contribution:
-Number of qualified leads identified and passed to the sales team.
5. Team Collaboration:
-Participation in on-the-job training and knowledge sharing.
-Collaboration with senior technicians and other team members to meet project objectives.
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to lift up to 100 pounds of equipment and tools.
-Frequent standing, kneeling, and bending to perform installations in various settings.
-Ability to work on ladders and in confined spaces.
-Fine motor skills to handle small tools and wiring components.
-Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
Requirements:
-Positive, problem solving, attitude with a desire to ensure every customer has a great customer experience.
-Basic knowledge of A/V systems and components, including televisions, speakers, amplifiers, and wiring.
-Ability to follow installation diagrams and instructions provided by senior technicians.
-Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
-Good communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
-Willingness to learn new technologies and techniques from senior technicians and participate in on-the-job training.
-Ability to lift and carry equipment (up 100 lbs), climb ladders, and work in various installation environments & climates.
-Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
-Must pass criminal background check.
Preferred Experience (but not required):
-Some experience with A/V or low-voltage installations is a plus.
-Basic understanding of networking principles and smart home automation systems.
-Familiarity with tools and materials used in low-voltage wiring and equipment installation.
