Smart Vision Lights is looking for Electrical Assembly Technicians in Norton Shores, MI
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Able to work well in a team
- High school diploma
- Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum one year in SMT operation
- Minimum one year experience in electronics assembly
- Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in operating and programming SMT equipment, such as pick-and-place machines and reflow soldering ovens
- Basic knowledge of electronic components, attributes, circuit board layout, and component placement techniques
- Familiar with testing equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and X-ray machines for inspection
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex circuit board issues
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet production deadlines
- Attention to detail, ensuring high-quality assembly and repairs
- Familiarity with quality control standards and techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong communication skills for collaboration within the team
- Strong math and computer skills for documentation and reporting
Purpose of the Job
Essential Job Responsibilities
SMT Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain surface mount machines, including pick-and-place, solder paste stencil printing, reflow soldering, and inspection equipment. Ensure that the SMT process runs smoothly, meeting production targets and quality standards.
Quality Control: Conduct thorough visual inspections and performance tests on assembled circuit boards to verify compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Identify defects, such as soldering issues, component misplacements, or electrical connectivity problems. Use preventative measures to protect against electro-static discharge (ESD).
Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with assembled circuit boards, including identifying the root causes of defects or malfunctions. Utilize technical knowledge, circuit diagrams, and testing equipment to hand and power tools to repair faulty boards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of assembly processes, inspections, repairs, and any modifications made to circuit boards. Document troubleshooting steps and solutions for future reference.
Process Improvement: Collaborate with electronics team, engineers, process and quality leaders to develop and implement improvements that enhance assembly quality, efficiency, and yield. Provide input on design for manufacturability (DFM) to prevent common assembly issues.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures while operating SMT machines and handling electronic components. Ensure that work is conducted safely and in accordance with relevant regulations and company policies. Use required PPE.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the electronics assembly, engineers, final assembly, and quality teams to communicate findings, discuss issues, and implement corrective actions. Provide or assist in training and support to others when needed.
Inventory Management: Assist in managing component inventory, ensuring that required materials for assembly and repair are processed accurately when incoming, properly stored and available for use.
