Overview
Reporting to the Head of Trading in the Wholesale Group, the principal role of the Trader (ERCOT) is responsible for the creation, management and execution of power and gas trading strategies in the ERCOT region. The goal of this role is to support Smartest's overall business plan and profitability through the delivery of the relevant profit targets, while operating in accordance with relevant risk limits (for example, VaR and stop loss) and maintaining a high standard of conduct. The Trader is responsible for ensuring that internal and external customers receive a combination of price competitiveness and outstanding customer service and, in parallel, supports Smartest's wider business plan by overseeing the diligent hedging and risk management of Smartest's exposure to the market price risks associated with Smartest's core contract business activities. This role will have access to the Wholesale Analytics function which works to support the trading strategies, manage ETRM trade entry and provide market information.
The role will be located at SmartestEnergy's Houston office when established. A hybrid work arrangement will be in place with a requirement to be in the office a minimum of 2 days a week.
Key Responsibilities for this role include :
- Achievement of annual Trading P&L targets
- Operating within and complying with risk limits and trading control procedures
- Development and implementation of proprietary trading strategies and tactics
- Specify and contribute to the development of Trading Analytics tools and reports
- Development of ERCOT bid / mid / offer wholesale marks
- Issuance of Retail commodity offer curve and ad-hoc Power plant offtake prices
- Develop and Maintain key relationships which market participants to support Trading activities
